The Opinel No.06 Stainless Steel Pocket Knife is the smallest model that features the patented Virobloc safety ring. This little knife is non-threatening and highly durable, with a blade designed and perfected over generations to maximize cutting quality and ensure ease of sharpening after years of use. The knife can be used in the garden, at the dinner table, or on any adventure, and its compact size allows it to be conveniently stored in a pocket, purse, or toolbox.

Opinel utilizes Sandvik® 12C27 Modified stainless steel for the blade, which is known for its anti-corrosive properties and requires minimal upkeep. The carbon content of at least 0.40% provides an excellent cutting edge that is easy to maintain. The patented Virobloc locking mechanism keeps the knife safely closed in the pocket and locks the blade open during use, while the simplicity of the design and the sustainable wooden handle make the knife lightweight.

Composed of five elements – the blade, wooden handle, fixed ferrule, rivet, and rotating Virobloc locking ring (added in 1955 to sizes No.06 and above) – the Opinel folding knife is both smart and simple. The No.06 model features a 2.87-inch blade and an overall open length of 6.5 inches.

Opinel recommends hand-washing wooden-handled knives and avoiding the dishwasher, as heat and moisture can cause the wood to swell, making the knife difficult to open. The Sandvik 12C27 Mod. Stainless Steel used for the blades is low-maintenance, highly resistant to rust, and can be polished or cared for with simple organic oils.
