The No7 is the perfect knife for those who find the No6 a tad too small. Classified as an "in-between" size, the No7 is neither too small nor too big. Opinel, a French company, has been manufacturing its knives in the heart of the French Alps since the company's creation in 1890. Today, their production facility in Chambray (Savoy, France) covers almost 60,000 square feet and employs 110 people, 60 of whom work directly in production. All Opinel products, including traditional pocket knives with carbon steel and stainless steel blades, specialist pocket knives, sharp slim pocket knives, garden tools, and elegant table knives, are entirely manufactured in the Chambray factory, except for the kitchen and table knives, whose molds and cutting tools have been developed by Opinel, and the wooden handles, which are made in Chambray. These different components are then assembled and sharpened in their plant in Portugal.

Opinel Knives are traditionally sold without any retail packaging to reduce waste and promote sustainability. The knives are minimally packaged in clear plastic zip bags, fitted to the size of the knife. This knife features the Virobloc safety ring, invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc safety ring, made of stainless steel, has two sections - one fixed and one sliding. It is fitted to all folding knives sizes No6 through No12, and it can lock the blade both open (for safety while in use) and closed (for safety on the go).

Stainless steel blades on Opinel knives are highly resistant and can be easily cleaned with a sponge, warm water, and dishwashing liquid. The strength and resistance of Opinel knives come not only from their woodwork but also from their use of new materials, such as top-of-the-range synthetic polymers. Opinel knives are designed to last a lifetime and are often passed down from father to son.
